Attorney Resources

The Jeanne A. Carpenter Epilepsy Legal Defense Fund coordinates and supports a network of attorneys who have agreed to provide services, pro bono, for a set number of hours, and to consider, if appropriate, representing the individual on a pro bono, sliding scale or contingency fee basis.

In exchange for this commitment, the Jeanne A. Carpenter Epilepsy Legal Defense Fund staff will provide technical assistance on epilepsy and legal issues affecting people with epilepsy. If you have a question for our legal staff, email legalrights@efa.org or call (301) 459-3700.

For cooperating Defense Fund attorneys, there are members only resources listed on the right side of this page. Attorneys must be logged in to access these sections. These resources include the case database, the indexed brief bank and a discussion forum. The forum is where members can post questions and answers on any epilepsy-related legal advocacy issue, or just share information on these issues, including information on new initiatives and cases; of course, client-identifying information should not be shared. To participate in discussions, select the Join link on the discussion forum page; existing members can sign in on the left.

In addition, we have more information, including access to a national database of legal and scientific articles about epilepsy and related legal issues. If you are interested in a literature search in a specific area of interest, please submit a request to legalrights@efa.org or call (301) 918-3700.
