ProgramsThe Epilepsy Foundation of Delaware offers a number of programs for persons with epilepsy, their families and the public. Individual SupportWe provide individuals and families with information and support to help them understand and cope with epilepsy.Support GroupsWe provide a forum for people with epilepsy to discuss their concerns, share support and encouragement and be informed about legislation, research and resources. Groups meet in New Castle County once a month. Please call for details.Public Awareness ProgramThis program has as its main goal to lessen, and to ultimately eliminate, the stigma added to both the word and the disorder -- Epilepsy. This service includes educational presentations to both small and large groups. Our three major progams are outlined below. Seizure Recognition and First Aid Program We continue to educate school faculties, day care teachers and education students throughout the State about the different forms of epilepsy. Seizure Recognition and First Aid For Teens We partner with Health teachers in high schools across the State to educate most teens, elimiating stigma fo teens with the disorder. Take Another Look We are on the curriculum of the three police academies to educate officers about different seizure types and prevent falst arests. Film Loan Library and Educational MaterialsA variety of films and tapes are available for loan to schools, clubs, organizations and individuals interested in epilepsy. An assortment of books, manuals and pamphlets are also available from this library.InformationThis service is available for anyone needing information on epilepsy or services available for persons with epilepsy. A Tel-Med tape is available for general information through the academy of Medicine. Call 302/571-1010 for Tape #125 in English or #926 in Spanish.Emergency Funding of MedicationThere are limited funds available to patients with epilepsy who encounter emergency situations and are unable to afford the total cost of their medication. |
