National Council on Independent Living Annual Conference Promotes Disability Rights
NCIL's Annual Conference will take place July 21-24, 2008 in Washington, DC and will focus on promoting disability rights during the Presidential election cycle.
The conference is part of the broader mission to create a world in which people with disabilities are valued equally and participate fully.
NCIL’s Annual Conference attracts approximately 750 employers, disability leaders, independent living advocates and Members of Congress. The conference is a week-long event featuring plenary sessions, an exhibit fair, a march and rally to the U.S. Capitol, and a full array of workshops. The Annual Awards Dinner will showcase the accomplishments of the disability community and serving as a culmination of the week’s events.

Founded in 1982, NCIL is celebrating 26 years as the longest running national cross-disability, grassroots organization run by and for people with disabilities.
NCIL is an association of people with disabilities, Centers for Independent Living (CILs,) Statewide Independent Living Councils (SILCs,) and other disability rights organizations serving hundreds of thousands people with disabilities in every state and territory of the country.
As a membership organization, NCIL advances independent living and the rights of people with disabilities through consumer-driven advocacy. Their current membership includes over 400 CILS, SILCs and Organizations committed to the independence and empowerment of individuals with disabilities. .
