Legal Rights Information Center

Do you have a legal question? Are you wondering:

  • Can my boss ask me about my epilepsy?
  • What is a reasonable accommodation?
  • How long do I have to be seizure-free before I get my driver's license back?
  • Can I be arrested for seizure-related behavior?

Information Resources

  • Legal Fact Sheets:
We have prepared a series of fact sheets addressing the legal rights of persons with epilepsy, which include summaries of key federal disability rights laws. Individuals experiencing discrimination based on their epilepsy should consider using the appropriate fact sheet(s) as an advocacy tool. For instance, consider providing them to employers, educational professionals and others to help correct any misunderstanding they may have about the rights of persons with epilepsy; doing so may help resolve disputes voluntarily.

  • Review General Legal Resources:
We have collected a range of legal resources that may provide additional useful advocacy tools for non-lawyers; please review these materials as well for the information needed.

  • Submit Your Question Online:
Submit your question online to staff at the Epilepsy Resource Center or call them at (800) 332-1000.

Attorney Referral

Do you need a referral to an attorney for specific legal advice or representation? Please first determine whether the information you need is available from the above resources. If it is not, you can submit an online application for a referral.
