Bruce P. Hermann, Ph.D., is Professor of Neurology, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and Director of the Charles Matthews Neuropsychology Lab in the Department of Neurology.

For 30 years his primary clinical and research interests include the cognitive and behavioral complications of the epilepsies in both children and adults as well as the cognitive and quality of life outcomes of epilepsy surgery. His most recent research projects involve determination of whether cognitive and behavioral co-morbidities are progressive in chronic temporal lobe epilepsy, and the neuropsychological and behavioral status of children with new onset epilepsy and their developmental trajectories.

Hermann has served on the editorial boards for the journals Epilepsia, Epilepsy Research, Epilepsy & Behavior, and Epilepsy Currents, and has published over 100 papers in his field.

He is a Fellow in the American Psychological Association and the National Academy of Neuropsychology; Board Certified by the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology and American Board of Professional Psychology, and a past Board Director and current member of the American Epilepsy Society.

In addition to his service with the Epilepsy Foundation, Hermann is Associate Director of the University of Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Institute and maintains a research interest in early identification of persons at risk for Alzheimer’s Disease.
